In June and July, 2000, Gordon Booth and I completed a coast-to-coast trip of just over five weeks on our Honda Goldwing motorcycles. His motorcycle was a red 2000 Aspencade*, and mine is a white 1998 SE model. All told, I logged 10,078 miles.
* In late 2005, Gordon sold his Aspencade and bought a brand new 2005 GL1800.
In May, 2002, I visited five places that are or were named Higdon. Only one of these is still recognized by the post office and, therefore, appears on state maps.
This is a video of about the last six minutes of the fireworks show. This is the largest fireworks show in the United States. The entire show lasted about a half hour, and the fireworks were launched at about the same pace all throughout the show.
In December, 2005, Gordon and I completed a trip to Key West, Florida. On the way there, I passed another milestone on my Goldwing; 80,000 miles. That's more miles than I've put on any other single vehicle other than my current Chevy Astro van. I rode a few miles more before stopping to take the picture.
I've upped the milestone on my Goldwing to 90,000 miles. This was on August 27th, 2006 while returning from a GWRRA Chapter ride to Cass Scenic Railroad State Park in West Virginia. You can read about the ride and see pictures at the GWRRA Chapter NC-I Gallery Page.
My Goldwing finally reached the 100,000 mile point on May 22, 2008 while taking a lunch ride not far from work. The photo was taken at the entrance to the North Carolina Arboretum. The mileage should have been much higher by this time, but having a full-time job means I don't have nearly enough riding time.
I'm not sure why I don't have a photo of 110,000 miles. I finally reached 120,000 miles on August 18, 2013 in Virginia Beach, Virginia. It took long enough to get here, though. I had rotator cuff surgery in September, 2012, so I didn't get to ride at all from then until late March, 2013. There's also this full-time work thing keeping me from riding as much as I would like.
I've started a page of Goldwing Tips.
